Outdated Cary Colonial

The Outdated Cary Colonial was a 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath home and had a traditional layout with four rooms downstairs, kitchen in the back left of the house and all bedrooms upstairs (plus additional bonus room). It was full-of-potential when we found it, in a gem of a neighborhood with mature trees AND on a col-de-sac street, to top it off! We sort of loved it.

This larger-scale project had several big-ticket items. However, the most exciting thing with this flip was the creation of an open layout!! Read on to see the drastic change!

{What we did}:

The wall separating the kitchen and living room encroached on the entertaining potential, so it had to come down. This space’s facelift included:

This adorable little breakfast nook was nestled between the second set of stairs and kitchen. It set back a bit in the space, allowing for traffic. Isn’t it picturesque with this large window?

You get the idea about this whole open layout thing. Amazing, right?

{What we did}:

A complete gut.

Although still a small bathroom, it’s now a much nicer small master bathroom. We added:

  • New tile
  • Vanity
  • Updated ighting
  • Crisp white mirror
  • Frameless glass door
  • Fixtures and toilet

This room was deceiving difficult to bring up to par due to previous sub-floor damage, but we fixed it. It is amazing what cleaning, paint and carpet does to a space.

The Outdated Cary Colonial was a fun project and a lot of work, but we would do it again in a heart beat.

If you liked this flip, you will most definitely like The Overgrown Ranch and The Modern Split.
